Why the strange shape at the bottom of this tree? It is the result of coppicing, cutting back trees to ground level in order to stimulate growth. I thought it made an interesting picture framing the newly refurbished Christ Church in the background.

THE FASCINATION OF TREES ...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
In spring branches of tiny buds waiting to burst forth. In the summer it's the leaves, the colour, shape and the way they move in the breeze. Autumn sees falling leaves creating a carpet of multi colour golds and browns. In the winter it is the way that the branches are like skeleton's against the grey winter sky. I took this photograph when I was with some of our students walking across Christchurch Green at the weekend.

WORTH LOOKING UP....

This is the spire of St Gabriels Church on the Aldersbrook Road, the church was dedicated in 1914. It really stands out, it's so different it reminds me of a Medieval European Church spire.

BIG SKIES...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Whenever I am on Warren Road I always stop at this particular spot, it's a favourite place. It overlooks the lower four holes of Wanstead Golf Club. The ground drops away quickly from the road level down toward the River Roding and the combination of the drop and the view always give me that 'big sky feeling'

TULIPS

These beautiful tulips were bought by a friend for my wife in commiseration for having to run around after me while I nurse my broken toe. They looked so lovely in the vase that I had to photograph them.

JOBMASTERS STABLES..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Tucked away on Church path Wanstead is this lovely old building. It is now a family run garage, I and K Brown much used by locals. They service and repair cars. In it's previous life however, it was used by a ' Jobmaster ', someone who hired out horses and carriages often supplying the driver as well. So I expect things really haven't changed that much, its still about transportation.

MANUFACTURING IN WANSTEAD..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I have always liked this building, it stands on the corner of Nightingale Lane and Nelson Road, Wanstead and for me there is a uniqueness about it. It is the home of Essex Engineering Works a family run business of over 50 years, they manufacture coin slide mechanisms for machines. They have produced over 1,000,000 units distributed worldwide, great British manufacturing !

PROBABLY, POSSIBLY THE ASTEROID....

a faint dot near the bottom of the picture, no unfortunately it's only the 7.30pm flight from London City Airport, I did try for you last night but saw nothing. Still it's a nice picture of the moon.

A CHANGE FROM SNOW..

I was sitting in the car last week with the rain beating down. I noticed the effect the approaching car headlights were making on the windscreen. With the raindrops in focus it looked like a good picture possibility to me. So here it is.

THE FLY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD !
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Took this close up of an insect on the bathroom window the other morning. I guess he just crept in to escape the snow. Apologies to the fans of spy books but I just couldn't resist the title, and before I am corrected I know it's not a fly.

More Snow and possibly more today according to the news, still I am not complaining as it always makes lovely pictures in Wanstead.

DRIVING AT DUSK..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
Sorry I have not been able to post many pictures this week but with a hospital appointment and getting used to crutches it's been an interesting week. Hopefully I will be back on course next week. This photograph was taken from the car driving in Wanstead High Street on the way home from the gallery. I really like these slow exposures and the movement it produces plus the colours at dusk are great.
NEW LAMP.

Wanstead has some new street lights! The old lights gave off an orange glow giving an eerie feel to the night sky. The new ones seem to the eye to emit a much whiter light. Thought I would do an abstract shot.

ENERGY..

There are several different types of pylons and I know there are enthusiasts all over the country who study and observe them. They do have a dynamic beauty against a stormy sky. This one is for them.

DAYS GONE BY
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
This is the old Edwards Brothers machine factory that was on the triangular piece of ground at the rear of the Gallery in Nightingale Lane. It was a really lovely old building with a galleried interior. Unfortunately, manufacturing as it is now, the building is no more and has been replaced with new houses.

MAY BE A LITTLE SLOWER THAN USUAL...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
Two post's today as I missed one yesterday, the big white plaster cast on my leg is a clue to what happened yesterday. I'd love to say that I was doing something heroic or glamorous when the fracture occurred but I wasn't. I was running to answer the telephone and fell, so the lesson is don't rush, if the call is that important they will call back.
This may slow me down a little with the Wanstead Daily Photo so please bear with me, I'll stay on the case as much as possible.
SNARESBROOK CROWN COURT

I have been trying for some time to get a good view of the Court across the pond but in daylight but it just doesn't seem to work. However passing by the pond at dusk I was greeted by this view and it just seemed to bring the building to life
