The expanse of Wanstead Park is fascinating and seems never ending. In front of me the path I was on split into two, which one should I take, where would it lead me and what hidden pictures would I find ?

FLOATING LEAVES.

Still continuing in Wanstead Park these golden leaves look like they are floating in the air. I liked the way the colour stood out against the green and brown background.

THREE TREES.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Continuing my walk around Wanstead Park I saw these three trees silhouetted against the dark winter sky with dew tipped grass in the foreground. I thought that it would look good in Black and White, and it seems to work for me.

EARLY MORNING INSPIRATION.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
I was in Wanstead Park early in the morning just wondering around and found this spot where I could get very close to the lake at almost water level. The fallen tree and the leaves in the water and on the bank inspired this picture. For me it has an eerie feeling and shows just how versatile the park is in all seasons.

MISTY NIGHTS.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Coming out of the Gallery a few nights ago I looked up the hill toward the Duke of Edinburgh Public House and the scene reminded me of a proper winter evening from my childhood. There was a slight fog and the car headlights were blazing through it. To me it was just like the first night of an old fashioned English winter.

UNDERNEATH THE MISTLETOE.
Mistletoe growing on trees is prevalent in France. It could be happening here as well. This photograph was taken in Charnwood Drive. How did it get there? Despite the blue sky it means that Christmas is on the way.

THE RIGHT LIGHT.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
This is the recently refurbished United Reformed Church at the top of Nightingale Lane. As with the Blue Lamp outside the police station I have been looking at the light and biding my time before I took a picture of it. When I saw it all lit up the other night I knew that it would be just right.

BLACK AND WHITE.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
The colours of the leaves this year are so stunning and I have taken many pictures of them but I wondered what they would look like in black and white. So here they are on Christchurch Green and I think the empty bench and the night atmosphere make for a really good picture.

THE BLUE LAMP.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
As I have mentioned before I believe this is the last blue lamp outside a police station in London. I hope it doesn't disappear. Although this looks like a simple picture it took many days before I could get the right balance between the sky and the detail of the lamp but I think it was well worth all the effort.

WHAT MAKE IS IT ?
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
On Sunday on my way to the South Bank with a group of students for the Night Workshop, this great looking car was stationary at the traffic lights at Wanstead Station. I don't know what make it is so I need feedback please. I suspect it might be American. Another good reason to always carry your camera, you never know what you will see.

ONE MAN AND HIS DOG
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
I took this photograph the other morning, quite early just as the fog was lifting. I love the wintery feel and the flatness of the light caused by the fog. This is the field at the end of Nutter Lane, I don't know what it's called so any suggestions are most welcome.

A STITCH IN TIME.

This unique little building in Woodbine Place used to be Andrews the Builders Merchant but now it is a much needed Fabric Merchants established in 1946, called Stitch. Great to see small independent shops appearing on the High Street.

GOLDEN HUES.

An elaborate golden carpet of leaves that I discovered when I was exploring at the back of Eaton Manor Rugby Club on my way to the River Roding. I couldn't believe the strength of Autumn colours that we are getting at the moment.

ARCHITECTURAL GEM NO:2.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
When I look at this building it reminds me of Anne Hathaway's cottage in Stratford upon Avon, It is by no means identical and many will disagree but it just invokes that feeling in me.
This building can be found in the High Street on the corner of Woodbine Place.

ARCHITECTURAL GEMS.

Keep watching for more "little gems".
Looking up again I came across this lovely stained glass window in The Corner House. Recently refurbished it houses a community centre and guess what an architect, Jason Harris of T-Space Architects. This window has a secret, it only truly comes to life as it is getting dark outside and the lights inside shine through showing the beautiful colours of the glass.
Keep watching for more "little gems".

ROOM AT THE TOP.
Many of us walk around eyes front, left or right. We seldom look up or down. For photography you need to be aware of everything that is around you. This is the turret on the corner of The George Public House building. The wonderful circular windows, the domed shaped roof and chimney pots are well worth capturing. I have often wondered what it would be like to be in this room, to look out over George Green watching the sun come up.

Three flying saucers in the night sky over Wanstead... Nah it's just the lights outside the tube station shining through the trees.

LONG EXPOSURE.

Waiting for the fireworks the other night on the footbridge over the A12, I looked back towards the tunnel that runs under Wanstead and immediately knew that the car lights would make a great photograph.

JACK FROST....
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
Woke up yesterday morning to the first frost of the year in my garden and spotted this stand alone leaf resembling a claw. Love winter when it's cold, frosty and snowy. Technical information for this picture - wear a dressing gown and go back to bed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I notice from the stats that we now seem to be gathering readers from around the world. May I welcome you all to this tour around Wanstead where I live. It is a small village within London very close to the Olympic Site.

Walking home from the High Street last night I just noticed how vibrant the London Underground colours were at Wanstead Station against the night sky. We are so lucky to have a tube station at each end of the High Street.

FIREWORKS AT EATON MANOR RFC

This is the wonderful Grand Firework Display that Eaton Manor RFC put on last night. To make it even more interesting I photographed it from the footbridge over the A12. That is how I achieved those lovely streaking car lights.

EARLY GUY FAWKES NIGHT.
Photograph world © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
I was driving down Ashbourne Avenue when I saw a spectacular display of rockets coming from a garden. I just had to capture it and to make it a little different rested the camera on the roof of the car so that I would get a reflection of the fireworks.

HALLOWEEN REMNANTS.
Photograph world © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
On my way to the Gallery in Nightingale Lane, I spied the remnants of Halloween, an annual celebration of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows or as some refer to it as All Saints. This is the most pumpkins drawn and real that I have ever seen, well done great display.

Remember Armistice Day.
I never expected in early November still to have blue skies to photograph in Wanstead. This winged figure which to me looks like an angel is on top of the War Memorial in the High Street and it just seemed very fitting at this time to have the "Angel" in silhouette with her arms reaching up into the blue sky.
