A TOUCH OF THE BLUES...

I found this water pipe access cover in Nightingale Lane. I assume it's painted blue so that its easy to find for the repair gang. I quite like it like that, I'm very tempted to put the picture on the wall of the gallery...

SHADOWS..

The sun seemed to be very low the other morning as I passed the War Memorial on the High Street. It could have been my imagination I expect, anyway it threw a lovely shadow from the Memorial a nice picture for Sunday morning I thought..

MESSING ABOUT ON THE RIVER..

I was in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire a couple of weeks ago just wandering around and having a cup of tea here and there. Peeking through a break in the trees by the river Stort I came across this lovely scene of barges berthed, I particualy like the one on the right with all the bright colours...

...and we are back from our break so its business as usual, see you soon...

AN APPLE A DAY...

I had a walk along Leicester Road recently and came across this lovely offer. Presumably the kind householder had a glut of apples and had placed this box on the pavement so that anyone passing could help themselves...don't ya just love Wanstead...

PERFECT EVENING...

It's a fabulous evening here in Wanstead. As I was on my way home I spotted these golfers teeing off at Wanstead Golf Club. Although they were a quite a distance away it was a lovely scene bathed in late afternoon light, the lake and swans rounded it off.

Apologies for the blog being a bit hit and miss of late we have an awful lot going on. We are rearranging the Gallery, moving the studio and preparing for next months Art Trail and Fringe. Plus mixed in with all of that we are hoping to grab a few days off...we live in hope!

CANARY YELLOW...

McCartney's garage at the top of Grosvenor Road is well know for it's immaculate restoration of vintage Japanese cars, quite a few celebrities have made a purchase there. As I passed the other day however I spotted this wonderful old Citreon 'deux chevaux' in bright yellow on the forecourt, even better it was the van version which is quite rare I understand. I look forward to seeing it fully restored and  cruising around Wanstead....

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE...

...floor? I'm not sure that's how the nursery rhyme is supposed to go. I was in Hackney the other day then I came across this mirror. I'm not sure if it was being packed or unpacked, anyway whatever the reason it made an excellent reflection picture especially with the graffiti lettering on the wall...

EVENING SKY AGAIN..

World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved

You may remember the other day I posted a photograph of the evening sky photographed through our shutters. It seemed like a popular idea, so I thought I would try it again this time focusing on the shutters instead of the sky...as they say 'you pay your money and take your choice'..which one do you prefer..

NICE AND SIMPLE...

World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved

I am sure most of you realise by now that my knowledge of flowers and their identification is practically non existent. So when I popped into The Manor House in Wanstead High Street for a little refreshment on Sunday I couldn't identify the lovely arrangement of flowers on each table. The blooms were quite small, I like to think they were some form of meadow flower but of course in truth I have no idea. They were however simple arrangements, very lovely and very photogenic as well....the refreshment was excellent as well.....

EVENING TIME..

Wonderful sunset a few nights ago, unfortunately I wasn't in the right spot to capture it. I did however manage to get this shot of these great clouds, I photographed them through our shutters just for something a little different..

SWAN LAKE...

.......couldn't think of a more original title I'm afraid. It's just the swans on Snaresbrook Pond, I shot the picture very late in the evening and I really like the colours...

FAT CAT..

...and I'm not talking about bankers or the like. Wandering along Cowley Road earlier today I came across this notice pinned to a tree. At first I assumed it was a planning application but it was far more interesting.  It concerns Oscar a lovely friendly but overweight cat and the notice is from his owner asking please don't feed him... So if you do come across him please avoid the temptation.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE...

Lovely rainbow late yesterday evening, I managed to grab a quick shot as I passed Wanstead Golf Club on the way home. Unusually it lasted quite a long time...still didn't manage to find the pot of gold at the end of it though...big sigh...

THE 60's

     World © Geoff Wilkinson

If you are of a certain age and remember the swinging 60's era this van may stir some nostalgic memories. Flower power, music, peace, free love, psychedelic colours it all happened in that decade. As my mate Keef would say 'if you can remember the 60's you weren't really there'..

On a more sedate mode, I chanced upon this van parked in Nightingale Lane last Sunday, I wonder if the owner had a stall at the market...anyway peace baby peace..

...and again this year - Homefront - check out the details below, it's a splendid chance for everyone to get involved...

Make your home
a work of art

Wanstead residents are invited to make their front gardens, or front windows, into works of art this summer. For the second year running, Bairstow Eves Lettings is sponsoring the HomeFront element of Art Trail Wanstead, and is offering a first prize worth £100 and two runner-up prizes worth £25.

This year's guide theme, We Are the Environment, lends itself to a green theme.  But most importantly,  individuals, couples, families, or even children on their own, should just enjoy making art over this summer, to embellish their home - and make our streets more interesting.
Work should remain on show at least from 5th-20th September.
There is no fee, and you will be able to post us photos of your entry.  To get involved go to www.artgroupwanstead.com

If you are in Wanstead today and have a stroll up to the High Street you will find the wonderful Farmers Market in full swing. There are all sorts of goodies, stalls with knitting, sewing, and lots more, and there is of course excellent food and wine stalls. You can also find our stall (just by the old Barclays) with a lovely selection of hand made greetings cards and of course cards and prints from this blog, all smashing scenes of Wanstead. Enjoy the market...
