ICE SKATING

World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved

I really like Canary Wharf, the towers, the architecture, the shops it's a great setup in the right location. Demolishing our older architectural heritage in the city to make way for tower blocks I'm not so keen on. I took this picture while I was waiting to pick up my daughter. As you can see from the sign the outdoor ice skating rink is still open until the 16th of February so make the most of it.

THE VIEW FROM ALDERSBROOK..

I owe you two pictures today as I missed yesterday, apologies. I haven't been over to Aldersbrook for ages so I made a trip yesterday evening and I am so glad I did. The photograph above is of Alexandra Lake, it's the one near the City of London cemetery, I arrived just as the sun was setting, the timing was just right.

The second picture above is of Canary Wharf just after the sun went down. Although technically it's not Wanstead it was shot from Wanstead Flats so I think it counts, anyway it really shone out at dusk and I couldn't resist it.

IN THE DISTANCE.

This picture was taken while I was roaming around the Aldersbrook area of Wanstead. As you can see, even though it is several miles away, Canary Wharf still looms on the horizon.  The light was right and the dark clouds gave an eerie feel. The overall effect to me was of a separate land far away.
