OH IMOGEN...

You may have noticed it been a little damp and windy in Wanstead for the last couple of days. That of course is courtesy of the storm named Imogen. I took this picture at about midnight last night,  I know it looks like an enormous garden pond but it is in fact the road at the junction of Limes Ave and Elmcroft Ave. I'm so pleased I had my flippers with me....you may also notice if you look carefully that I managed to photograph a flying saucer at the same time...

GIMME SHELTER...

....you may remember this 1969 Rolling Stones song, that's what sprung to mind yesterday. My mate Jo from Elmcroft Ave telephoned to say that her builders had uncovered a WW2 airaid shelter in her garden during building work. When I arrived the excavation had been covered by an old garage door for safety, but peaking under the door I was able to get this shot from the back of the tiny shelter looking out. I just love the way the light from the entrance is bouncing around inside, I think it gives it a moody, atmospheric feeling. According to records a bomb did land in Elmcroft, probably within a hundred yards of this shelter, it certainly makes you think...

...or sunset in this case. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I have some more photographs of Christ Church that I want to post. However before I do I just had to show you this sunset picture that I took last Sunday. It's taken looking along Elmcroft Avenue from the junction with Buckingham Road, pretty spectacular sunset I thought....

As I hoped, a great full moon last night plus a clear sky. I stood at the end of Elmcroft Avenue to takes these pictures soon after it had risen above the horizon. Always fascinating 'the sky at night'...
