I've always liked this building in Wanstead Place its unusual for Wanstead as it's half tiled. As I passed the other day the light was just right to make the tiles really stand out, a lot of patience here from someone to put all those up..

RESCUED...

Wanstead's wonderful guerrilla gardner Marion Temple has struck again. This time it's in Wanstead Place, you will have noticed the concrete picket fence that runs along the side of Christchurch Green, well now Marion has planted primulas along its base. Now that will take the edge of it nicely. Best of all she rescued these plants that were about to be thrown out, recycling at it's best...

DAISY, DAISY...

Daisy, daisy give me your answer do... I'm sure you know the words to the song. There is a smashing country style garden in Wanstead Place, I admire it every time I pass. I spotted this little beauty (I assume it's a sort of daisy), on Saturday and I just couldn't resist stopping.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH?
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
Passing through Wanstead Place a few days ago I spied this cat keeping an eye on me. Was he on watch or just intrigued at my antics with the camera, not sure but very cute.

HUBCAP.

I have no idea what this car hubcap was doing lying amongst the leaves in Wanstead Place, it looked so out of place which made it an interesting photograph for me. I am always on the lookout, every day a new find.

UP ON THE ROOF..

After I photographed the Church of England Primary School roof the other day I was in a 'looking up' mood. This view is from the High Street looking between buildings at the a roof of a house in Wanstead Place. It reminded me of a scene looking across rooftops from the film 'Oliver', it just needs Bill Sykes and his dog fleeing the law.

WANSTEAD'S OLD FIRE STATION..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
This is the chimney of the old fire station in Wanstead Place. It looks enormous, more like you would see on an industrial building. You can see the chimney pots clearly on the right but what was the rest of it for ? Is the space on the left for a lookout ? Any thoughts please let me know ?

Wanstead got this fire station in 1913 complete with horse drawn engines, in 1919 it received it's first motorised fire engine. The station was closed in 1957 doubtless after doing sterling service to the local community. It is now the home of Wanstead Children's Centre.

LOOKING UP ONCE MORE...

Walking along Wanstead Place the other day I spotted these tiles. They are fixed to the front of a house opposite the church, I don't know the age of the house but the colour and workmanship of these tiles is great.
