...just a very simple straightforward picture of Christchurch Green yesterday as I passed on my way to the Gallery. As you can see the sun was shining and it even feel a little warm...summer must be on the way...

SCARY...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I photographed this squirrel on my Christchurch Green walk a few days ago. As you can see he was perched in a tree, his fur was soaking wet and spiky instead of smooth and flat. Maybe that's why he wasn't looking too happy. The blur you can see at the back half of his body is his hind leg furiously scratching away, I'll bet he can't wait for some spring sunshine...

WHAT A DIFFERENCE...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
....a day makes. Click here to see the same scene that I photographed last Thursday afternoon, what a difference in between the two pictures. This one of Christchurch Green was taken just 24 hours later, as I write this, Saturday, it's freezing outside and there was even a little snow first thing...

BLACK AND WHITE 2...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
...this is another picture I took on Christchurch Green during my winter afternoon walk. I love photographing fallen leaves, when I saw this couple approaching across the Green huddled together under their umbrella I knew I had all the elements for a picture...never let the weather put you off....

BLACK AND WHITE..
World © Geoff Wilkinson all rights reserved
It felt like a propers winters day yesterday, by the afternoon it was cold and drizzling with rain but I braved it. I wandered along to Christchurch Green, the ground and the leaves were sodden, the colour seemed to have disappeared from both. It seemed a perfect day for black and white photography....

SUNSET..

I'm afraid this picture almost slipped through the net. I took it a couple of weeks ago when I we had that fabulous evening sky. It's just a solitary leaf on a Christchurch Green tree as the sun goes down but it works for me...

A LITTLE MORE DRAMA..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I spotted this tree as I walked across Christchurch Green on Friday evening, I had no idea what species it was. Fortunately there was a small plaque on the ground underneath it, its a 'Cedrus Atlantica Glauca' and the plaque of course dedicates it to a loved one. It's a really fascinating shape and silhouetted against that evening sky it looked brilliant..there a a couple more skies to come from that evening...

PAUSE..

It suddenly occurred to me that I haven't been looking at the sky enough lately. So as I walked across Christchurch Green the other day I paused for a moment looked up and I really like the result.

LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
As I said yesterday it was a fabulous Sunday, loads of people out and about in Wanstead. As you can see Christchurch Green was full of families, couples, dogs being walked, everything was in full swing. I assume that the floating number six balloon was to celebrate a birthday...belated happy birthday whoever you are..

RETURN TO SENDER...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I had a walk across Christchurch Green at the weekend, just a short break from the computer screen. There were quite a lot of people around enjoying the weekend but I have to say this little guy was my favourite. He was rushing around returning sticks thrown by his owner. I'll bet he didn't have any trouble sleeping that night he must have been exhausted...

SATURDAY MORNING..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I took this picture back in October as I was walking across Christchurch Green. It was a Saturday morning and the scene just appealed to me. The fallen leaves, the avenue of trees, a child on a tricycle and her mum carrying the shopping home. A very Wanstead scene I thought...

AUTUMN..

Ah well here we are in Autumn. It seemed only right to walk across Christchurch Green to look at fallen leaves. The colours are of course great and at the moment I am loving these pictures taken from ground level across the carpets of leaves.

AND HERE'S ANOTHER...

I know I published a similar picture on Monday but I'm afraid I couldn't resist this one. When I saw this reflection picture in black and white on the computer screen as opposed to the colour version, sigh... well what can I say.

FALLEN LEAF..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
Here's another picture from the rainy days I referred to yesterday. I was wandering across Christchurch Green when I found this fallen leaf lying next to a puddle. I like the way it lines up with the reflection of the trees in the water. I have a feeling that it's going to be an early winter, lovely colour on the leaf though.

SEASONS GREETINGS..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
This is one of my favourite Wanstead pictures, the twisted tree on Christchurch Green, apt for this time of the year I thought. Wherever you are in the world Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.

SPOOKY...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I mentioned yesterday that I wasn't sure if the weather we are getting is mist or fog. Yesterday I think it was definitely fog. Early in the morning the visibility really was limited, I was pleased not to be driving. By the time I got to Christchurch Green it had thinned out a little. It was really spooky with figures emerging from and disappearing into the fog. If we get a third morning of it I will definitely think I have been transported back into some bad 1950's horror film.

A STROLL IN THE RAIN 2....
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
After I had finished at Christ Church I walked across Christchurch Green to see how the fallen trees were faring. All of the upper parts had been removed but the upturned roots were still there together with the damage done to the paths. It's still a sad sight but Wanstonians seem to be taking it in their stride as the picture above shows. People are still power walking even in the rain.

FALLEN TREES.
After the high winds and rain yesterday, I followed a tip from Wanstead Weather about fallen trees in Wanstead and decided to head toward Christchurch Green. On the way, at the top of Redbridge Lane West I discovered this mass of branches that had fallen along the pavement and partially into the road.
Moving on toward Christchurch Green, lo and behold there was a number of uprooted fallen trees. When you think how long it has taken for them to grow and reach this maturity only to be bowled over in minutes it is a very sad sight indeed.

PUDDLE FORMATION...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I took this photograph on the last photo walk that I did during the Wanstead Fringe. This puddle had formed around the roots of a tree on Christchurch Green. It reminded me of an aerial photograph that I have seen of a river in Africa running through the forest. I like the texture of the tree contrasting with the smoothness of the water.

LATE AFTERNOON..

There was beautiful light as I was walking across Christchurch Green late yesterday afternoon. As you can see the sun was dropping behind the trees and as I lined the camera up for a picture this cyclist rode into the frame. He just completed the photograph.
