...I had to pop up to Birmingham a few days ago to a trade show. It was a long day walking around the stands and chatting, all in a days work though. However on the walk back to the car the sky was amazing, so dramatic, I just had to stop and grab a picture...

ITS MAGIC !....
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
ok....so it's not magic really but here's the challenge. How to make a rainy, grey, overcast sky turn blue? Simple, just photograph the reflection of it in the hood of a blue car....

NEVER BEFORE...

Great sky the other night. There were bands of colour crisscrossing each other against a blue background, I don't think I've ever seen it quite like that before...

SMOKE SIGNALS..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
You probably know by now that I like to look up at the sky. I like to think of it as serious contemplation of world events on a higher level, that's all rubbish of course, really I'm just daydreaming. Anyway when I saw these dark clouds the other day against the rest of the sky I thought at first it was smoke from a fire. Remember those old black and white cowboy films where the Indians sent smoke signals well that what I was reminded of. Now back to world events....

EVENING TIME..

Sorry Wanstead Daily Photo has been a little hit and miss this week, its been very busy. A big photoshoot on location and several in the gallery, so apologies, anyway I'm back on track now. I saw this a fabulous sky as I left the Gallery in Nightingale Lane on Saturday night, I love the dark cloud cutting the sky in half.

FOR NO REASON..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Sometimes for no reason at all, something just catches my eye. This photograph was taken just outside our Gallery in Nightingale Lane, it was the angle of the shop blinds against the dark sky that made it leap out to me. It's such a dark and brooding scene, hard to believe it's taken in summer!

EXTRAORDINARY SKY..
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
I took this picture a few weeks ago late in the afternoon. As you can see there was a dark grey sky but with these extraordinary light coloured clouds that appeared to be travelling upwards. I don't ever recall seeing anything quite like it before.

THE SKY...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
You'r probably thinking "what's happened, where's the picture"? Well this is the picture, it's of the sky Wednesday morning, it was such a fabulous start to the day, I just pointed the camera up and shot the picture. It was just a mass of blue, the only clouds were over on the horizon. It was quite mild with a very light breeze and there was a real sense of an early summer day. To make it perfect a bird appears to have set up home in the tree next to our house and so we have bird song every morning as we wake.
Taken as a whole it was just a perfect morning.

MORNING SKY..

I published a similar photograph to this back in late October, it was the same scene and the picture was taken roughly at the same time of day. What a difference in the sky though, back in October it was grey, overcast and looked thoroughly miserable and here we are in mid November and it looks beautiful. British weather eh !

ANOTHER GREAT SKY...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
You probably know by now that I have a soft spot for clouds and skies. I stepped out of our Gallery in Nightingale Lane the other evening and saw this wonderful colour in the sky behind the old hospital on Hermon Hill. A lovely end to the working day.

MOVING CLOUDS.... WANSTEAD STYLE
World © Geoff Wilkinson- All rights reserved
Funny old night last night. I had read somewhere that at the moment there is an abundance of shooting stars in the night sky. I thought I would try my luck in the back garden for a couple of hours and try to capture them. So late last night I was sitting quietly in the garden in the dark when a fox nonchalantly walked by and looked at me as if I was mad. He may well have been right. Anyway, no shooting stars, too many clouds but I did end up with this dramatic picture of the night sky over Wanstead. Let's hope for a clear sky tonight !

BIG SKIES...
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Whenever I am on Warren Road I always stop at this particular spot, it's a favourite place. It overlooks the lower four holes of Wanstead Golf Club. The ground drops away quickly from the road level down toward the River Roding and the combination of the drop and the view always give me that 'big sky feeling'

ENERGY..

There are several different types of pylons and I know there are enthusiasts all over the country who study and observe them. They do have a dynamic beauty against a stormy sky. This one is for them.

MOODY SKY
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
This was the sky over Wanstead late afternoon a few days ago. We are experiencing so many vibrant colours and cloud formations in the sky of late. They are difficult to photograph sometimes because they come and go so fast but it is worth photographing them, they make great pictures.

THREE TREES.
World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved.
Continuing my walk around Wanstead Park I saw these three trees silhouetted against the dark winter sky with dew tipped grass in the foreground. I thought that it would look good in Black and White, and it seems to work for me.

UNDERNEATH THE MISTLETOE.
Mistletoe growing on trees is prevalent in France. It could be happening here as well. This photograph was taken in Charnwood Drive. How did it get there? Despite the blue sky it means that Christmas is on the way.

NOSTALGIA.
Photograph World © Geoff Wilkinson - All rights reserved
As much as I love the countryside, and I do, all those who have seen my Spitalfield project know that every time I see an urban scene I just have to take a picture. This is the view from our workshop which used to be an old stable back in the days when grocers had horse drawn deliveries (nostalgia).
