...I know I'd never heard of it either. It involves wrapping crocheted pieces of wool around objects in this case trees.
It's all part of the wonderful Wanstead Art Trail and this particular yarn bombing event was the brainchild of Syd from the pet shop in the High Street. Click on this link to see how she wrapped a bicycle it's brilliant...whatever next though..
Looks very pretty on the tree but the weather will soon ruin it. Takes ages making a big piece of crochet work, seems a pity to leave it to nature.
ReplyDeleteBest make the most of it while it lasts...
DeleteOh yes, yarnbombing is popular here too Geoff, often see it in the most unlikely of places :)
ReplyDeleteNearly all the trees in the High Street have a piece now..
DeleteI've seen it done in parks here. They don't seem to be up too long. A few days and then whoever did it takes it down again.
ReplyDeleteWant to keep it for posterity William ?
DeleteYou see it here too, Geoff!
ReplyDeleteI never realised it was so popular Pat..
DeleteThere's lots of yarn bombing around here. In fact, I have a bicycle that I keep meaning to show!
ReplyDeleteIt's a small world, someone in Wanstead has done a bicycle....
DeleteSimilar ongoings in and around Vienna. As far as I understand, here it's the knitted kind. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's everywhere! There is no escape...
DeleteI've seen this art also here. It is nice to wear trees warmly (for winter :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that...warm trees!
